Huawei Watch GT 2: Should You Buy It Or Not?

 February 23, 2022

Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. may be a Chinese technology MNC. Their headquarter is found in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China.

Ren Zhengfei founded the private corporation in 1987. Initially, the corporation primarily focused on manufacturing phone switches. Now it’s grown to manufacture appliances building telecommunication networks in and outside of China.

Furthermore, Huawei shocked the planet by surpassing Apple for the second position as the largest smartphone manufacturer in the world in 2018. They were only one position behind Samsung.

Huawei Smartwatches

Due to many reasons, Huawei smartphones do not have much of a stand in the Indian market. The same goes for its sub-brand, Honor. However, both the companies are constantly trying to take the company back to India. Huawei has started producing smartwatches for the Indian market to target the market for similar products.

Huawei Watch GT 2

Huawei has been within the wearables space for quite a while now and has steadily pushed out new smartwatch models in India. The company launched the Huawei Watch GT early last year for Rs. 15,990, and there is now a successor aptly called the Watch GT 2. Surprisingly, this Watch packs in additional features but has a lower price. 14,990. The new smartwatch ensures 14 days of battery life and features a speaker that’ll allow you to require calls on the Watch itself.

Huawei Watch GT 2 Features

The Huawei Watch GT 2 runs by Huawei’s Kirin A1 processor. The company developed this processor specifically for wearables, including smartwatches and wireless headphones. It competes with the Snapdragon Wear 3100 SoC employed by most WearOS devices, and therefore the Exynos 9110 SoC powers the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2. There is support for Bluetooth 5.1 alongside GPS, which may be wont to track outdoor runs. The device is waterproof up to five ATMs, so you’ll be ready to take it for a swim. The 46mm variant is additionally capable of receiving calls over Bluetooth.

Just like many other smartwatches, the Huawei Watch GT 2 is capable of step and distance tracking. It also has GPS for tracking distance. Heart rate, sleep, and stress monitoring also is supported (though stress tracking works only paired with Android smartphones).

You will get to download the Huawei Health app to sync the Watch GT 2 with a smartphone. The pairing process is straightforward and quick. Sleep and heart-rate tracking are enabled by default. Stress tracking must be enabled manually through the Health app on an Android smartphone.

Huawei Watch GT 2 Design

Huawei has used wide 22mm straps for the Watch GT 2. These are user-replaceable, and you’ll pick any standard 22mm strap of your choice. The bottom option comes with a black Fluoroelastomer strap that feels comfortable when worn.

The 1.39-inch AMOLED display sports a 454 x 454-pixel resolution above that of the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2, which we recently reviewed. There’s no pixelation, and therefore the smartwatch has auto-brightness, which helps it suit changing ambient light conditions.

Conclusion

Overall, the Huawei Watch GT 2 may be a good-looking smartwatch with excellent battery life. If you’re trying to find a capable smartwatch for basic fitness tracking and notifications and do not wish to charge it every other day, the Huawei Watch GT 2 makes an extreme case for itself. Performance isn’t equivalent to that of the Samsung Galaxy Watch or the Galaxy Watch Active, and we hope that Huawei can address this. For Rs. 14,999, the Huawei Watch GT 2 may be a good smartwatch to think about.
